Fresh air

The longer runs are, it has to be said, quite good. The only issue is that they do not lead to so much time sitting with trees. But, then, I don't feel the trees are that communicative in the drought, so maybe it does not matter.

This run is on the land of Cottesbrooke estate. Last time, I saw a hare on one of the tracks; this time there was a heron in one of the fields near the little lake. Also, five kestrels... which was unusual. I usually see them alone. In fact, I even wondered whether they were kestrels as they seemed to be spiraling high up. They also seemed to be interacting up there, some of them, at least. A family group? All in all, it was intriguing.

This section of field had sunflowers in it last year and some have reseeded.

One term for set-aside land is "hare's corner", which is rather nice.
