Ladybirds everywhere!

I had the most incredible experience!
I went to check up on the ancient beech by the ruined church. She is doing OK despite plentiful fungal fruiting bodies. As I had time, I figured I would visit the church.
When I got to the gate I had a feeling, really strong, of anticipation. I said, aloud (no one else was there), “The place is WAITING.” Not for me, but for something.
I walked in and into a storm of ladybirds! Various different species (seven spotted, two spotted, harlequin and pine).
I have never seen so many in one place!

Very few landed on the gravestones, but a vast number were on the walls of the church. I sat down (checking for ladybirds) and was soon crawling with them. It was just so… well, enchanting.
And I kept thinking, “what does this mean?” And the answer was, “Something, clearly to the ladybirds, but it’s NOT ABOUT YOU! Except to be enchanted. That’s it. The enchantment is deep enough for that to be meaning in itself.”
Honestly, it was like…. I don’t know… It was like all the ladybirds from the whole county had come to the church.
You can get a sense of it…

What an experience for you! Interesting that several different kinds were part of the gathering. Possibly they were looking for an overwintering location that offers shelter. Glad you caught it on video.
