A sign of experience?

Someone on YouTube told me that the mottled grey of Mottled Breast's breast might be a sign of seniority. To be honest, I had thought this was Tane until I saw the pictures and could make out the markings. This robin was brave... and a wet Tane can look dark. But I am pretty sure this really is Mottled Breast, whom I think has always been brave.

I had just made some repairs to the makeshift feeder and she wasn't completely convinced that it was safe. Finally, she landed on it and took some food.

This left me wondering when I last definitely saw Tane. So, I stood outside until I heard a robin singing where I expected Tane to be. I whistled, and he came. The whistle is no guarantee, but if a robing comes when I whistle, it will be Tane.

I have had some good news. I have been offered some unexpected work for August and September. This does not mean I am "in the money" but it should help keep me off the streets... well, it helps, at any rate.

Experience. I guess my increasing grey is a sign of my experience too and, like Mottled Breast, I guess I am pretty brave. I am always scared, but I do things. I might look askance, but, like her, I have a go. If that's allowed a robin to live longer than most, maybe it bodes well for me too. And this work, it has come from experience and from having a go. Keep the faith, Crone, hold firm.
