Crow news... but not so much about CD and co.
Well, except for that there are two extra crows on the park... not sure who they are... I thought they were two of the Driveway Two who've now become a Five. But then two of the Driveway Five dive-bombed them. As did CD, who disapproved of me acknowledging their presence.
I think I knew them a few months ago when I thought one of them was CD for a while (though this character is less brave and lacks the white mark - I wasn't so well versed in CD's idiosyncracies then). After that I thought it was Diva (one of the Driveways that flies around... but maybe the flying one is in fact new crow and his/her mate... which means there is no Diva... or Diva is not who I thought she was... or something).
Anyway, the alt. crow news is this: June Hunter.
Who she?
Well, I found her while searching - with little hope - for a crow calendar. Oh me of little faith! How's about this?
So, then it turns out she writes about.... crows!!! Check out her blog and her incredible photographs here.
What's more, she recommended this book to me - the hero is a crow (American) called ST. I have just started it and am enjoying it already. Very funny.
June is from dear old Blighty - further north - and emigrated to Canada some time ago. I am super jealous.
Clearly, though, none of her crows are quite as handsome as CD.
The frost was hard today and everyone was hungry. But whereas yesterday they were all bickering, today it was all about eating and storing. I don't blame them. That said, the jays didn't visit for their peanuts until late afternoon. They were lucky the fat brave squirrel hadn't eaten them.
I have been given a monocular for looking at crows and a bird book and more bird feeders. All of which are superb gifts. 2022 shall be year of the birds. On my calendar and off it.
