City light

The other day I was trying to explain to my brother how I love London. The buildings, theatres, galleries, the restaurants and the parks, the Thames, the variety, the buzz.

I love walking in London.

This walk followed a matinée performance of Oedipus at the Old Vic. I loved the version of this play with Mark Strong that I saw a few months back. This one was very different. Hard to describe. The set was really just a large space with an opening at the back. Light was used to create mood. Dancers, instead of the "Chorus", expressed the emotional mood of the people of Thebes. The use of light, music and dance was exceptional. I did not feel the same visceral engagement as I had with the other adaptation, but I thought the acting was great and was glad to have seen it.

I walked from Waterloo to Shaftesbury Avenue, to meet a friend, and then on to Green Park for the tube.

This shows the light to the west first and then the east.

My brother has gifted me a tea at the Ritz in April. I walked past to case the joint.

How did the artists manage to paint this??

I hadn't realised you could see Big Ben from Trafalgar Square.
