Cow wander

A warm enough day and not too hot, but for some reason I had not managed to get myself out of the house. Some writing, some pottering about, perhaps lying curled like a shrimp on the sofa to read and pretend the world wasn't happening.
The crow hadn't visited. And I had found another abandoned robin nest with four little eggs. They were probably hard boiled after the heat wave.
Even to hooligan starlings seem to be in drastically reduced numbers this year. The Great Dying.
Sorry.
So I went for a walk and all I saw to photograph were some sweet huffing heifers.

On the way back to the car, a single poppy.

This immense sadness. The loneliness of a life without the more-than-human proliferation.
Sorry.
