Not the best of days... or, I suppose, the worst of days. I'd had an early visit to the hygienist. That was fairly uneventful. Back at home, and I went back to bed. I listened to my latest Arthurian epic (I haven't finished reading The Last Enchantment yet either - but I guess I find something consoling in the whole King Arthur and Merlin thing). This new one is by Peter Gibbons, and, strangely, it doesn't feature on his website. It's called Excalibur and I am very much liking it so far.
Eventually I got up and sort of drifted around dismally. Then I decided to go for a trot - one that passes two of my sentinel trees. And I ended up doing the long version of this run for the first time in ages.
Coming up a long, slow hill, there was something at the top of the track, sitting like a small red-brown dog but I was not sure what it was. It turned and ambled into the long grass - a hare! When I reached the grass, I looked, but there was no sight not sound, neither hide nor hair/hare.
The living world may not offer me any answers in my darkest times, but it keeps offering meetings––and that matters.

The hare was saying hello to you. x
