Another walk, another video.
I have been visiting these trees for quite a while now and the way the ash leans into the oak has always delighted me. After the two trees, you see a pair of two different species who seem to have fused... an oak, I think, and maybe a sycamore, but I cannot be sure of either. Then, bark. Oak and cherry and Scots pine.
I sat for twenty minutes with the Merlin app on. As well as the usual suspects, linnet, redwing and fieldfare. Also a great spotted woodpecker, who I watched, drumming away.
There's an oak which two years ago had a couple of minor bleeds. Now, it is a mess. The condition seems to be operating so fast! I think it could be dead in another two years.
On the way out of the reserve, I saw the rooks foraging in a field. They seem very specific about where the food is!

Enjoyed the video. Like the term "shy crowns". Beautiful bark pics. Yes, I head the raven!
Good picture of rook activity! Sorry to hear about the oak in decline :-( I remember seeing fused trees from your posts. I like how you bring me along when you return to places x
