Give and take

After a few days of persistent rain, it was great to see the sun... and so I went on my longest run.
And the swans were still in the pond! Though not very clearly visible!

I'd seen a couple of buzzards, flushed out of trees when I "ran" past, but then, in the place where I had stopped to watch the corvids, I heard the most wonderful chattering and chirping and singing of little birds. Turn up the volume!
I was wonderstruck and trotted off to continue and I came across humans. Seven of them. With binoculars.
They were on the lookout for short-eared owls who arrive in this part of the UK round about now. They are interesting as some birds move from highlands of the UK to lowlands and others migrate from Scandinavia and Russia. They also hunt in the daytime. I think that late afternoon must be good owl-sighting time, judging by the people.
When I got back to the car, I saw that the birds had been enjoying what I had left for them.

A large proportion of the peanuts had already gone - and I had seen crows flying along with very stuffed craws! While I was there, I saw tits and a robin as well as two squirrels.
Not great pictures with the phone.
I like it that we humans get such pleasure from them and we can give back a little!
