I've got a tail...

When I was a very little girl, I drove my brother and sister-in-law crazy by insisting we listen to Squirrel Nutkin in the car. For a taster of the mind bending misery this could induce, listen to the first song here, I've got a tail...

Anyway, I thought of that after filming the enchanting long tailed tits.

Just before, I had been watching squirrels: they were either playing or engaged in warfare. Hard to tell.

As my boxing coach has left the 'hood, I had to find a new one. I had my first session with him today. It was fun. Afterwards I wanted to enjoy the sun with birds and bees. I'd intended to sit in the kingfisher place, but ended up by an oak. The message from this oak was, there's nothing to understand.

I found some rather gruesome large bird remains, goose, I'd guess. And remembered Mischa telling me that along that very track a short time ago she found a buzzard who was sitting on the ground with his legs stretched out in front of him. She took him to the animal hospital, but he'd just eaten too much to fly! Once he'd recovered from his gluttony, she took him back to the same spot and released him.

Another story: Saskia in Amsterdam told me she heard birds shouting and saw that a magpie had a baby blue tit. All the local blue tits had gathered round to shout at the magpie and dart at him, communally protecting the baby. The magpie eventually left... but the baby bird had died.

For the first time today I saw a blue tit parent feeding a fledgling. All the baby blue tits and the dunnock and blackbird baby were around me.
