Mr Driveway again!

He truly is a very handsome fellow!

And the next day he came back again!!
He returned and did manage to get four bits in his beak!
Then two days on from that, I clucked when I was in the garden and Mr Driveway appeared... I think I shall refer to him heretofore as Hermes. Anyway, I held out a biscuit and there was no way he was going to fall for that, so I put it on the fence, broken up. Oh my goodness, you should have seen him trying to get all the pieces! He understood that he needed to pile them up, but then they'd move when he tried to get his thick beak under them, so he tried standing on the pile, but then he couldn't move the biscuits because his weight was on them. I was getting twitchy just watching him.
I was stunned that he would stay so long with me so close!
But that wasn't enough: I went for a run and as I got back to the front door he swooped onto the roof above me. I had the crow food with me (as I started the run by going through the park and he wasn't there), so I walked up to toward the park. He perched on a lamp at the halfway point and then went to a tree that bounds the grass.
I put down the food and sat to watch him. He collected a lot (suet pellets and peanuts) then flew off. I waited. He returned and collected some more which he cached in the grass. Then he started pecking things from the grass... insects? Grass? The last seemed to be a small piece of wood. With all that in his beak, he proceeded to collect more food.
When he caches, he seems to make a hole with his beak and spit the stuff into it, then needs to cover it up. I wondered if he collected the grass and twig, maybe some soil, to make a "cover" for the cache that would be spat out after the food?
I couldn't tell as he flew off with his beak-load.

Yeah, Hermes!! 🐦⬛
