That was mine.
Kate and I were at a Reserve in Northampton and we heard this unearthly shrieking. I thought it was jays or a dog being murdered. Then three foxes ran toward us - one by one - coming about ten feet away before turning into the scrub. They took no notice of us at all. They didn't look like they were in the middle of a fight, so maybe it was three juveniles playing? Or a vixen and two dogs?
They appeared again - but only Kate saw them.
I wanted to and had the camera on.
I know. Nothing.
While I was doing this, Leanne was sending me videos.
As if the big close ups of the fox weren't enough, she slam-dunked me with the badger.
They really are super videos.
But I did enjoy super weather at the Reserve.
Kate and I did a structure survey - which involved me losing a pen and getting the paperwork wet and muddy, while writing illegible comments about the gates and signage. Then we were waging war on brambles to open out the path.
As I was doing this, I was thinking, 'The worst thing someone could say when you have spent 45 minutes getting impaled on thorns is, "Yes, this area could do with a bit of a tidy up!"'
Ian Wilson arrived a few minutes later. He did not say the area could do with a tidy up. What he said was even worse, 'Let me show you the path you are meant to be clearing.'
To be fair, he did commend us on our dutiful pruning of the initial path. Never mind. I got home in time to feed the crows.
Great vids of badger. Beautiful, muscular looking creature!
