Out in the woods I found these.
I thought it was a muntjac. I brought what I thought was the skull home to go in my curiosities cabinet. And I sent pictures to a man who would know what this was.
Muntjac, he said. And dead.
Thanks for that. I'd worked out it was dead.
What he didn't do was tell me that I did not have the head of a deer but some other part of bony anatomy. A fact I did not realise until the following day when I found this.
The lesson here is not to ask me to perform any surgery. I don't know my arse from my elbow.
The skull - as opposed to the... breast bone? pelvis? knee? - was inhabited by a family of spiders and various other small creatures whom I did not inspect too carefully.
Anyway, the skull is a great addition to my Morrigan collection. Wand, hazel sticks, beads, feathers and skull.
No, I'll not ask you to operate on me 😉! The horns make for a dramatic piece. How far away was the skull from the other bones? Is this the Morrigan you mention? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Morr%C3%ADgan Sometimes a crow, eh.
