As the craniosacral therapist did not actually touch my head, I went to the physio.

I've been twice before with my headaches and I know it helped a lot on one of those occasions. Ash is very kind and softly spoken, so I always feel like I'm SHOUTING. He did the clicking of the back and neck, massage and pressure points. It was very good, if painful at times. And, of course, it was the first time someone has touched me since March.

he also recommended some things, as he did feel that the headaches stem from stress and the failure to breathe properly. Short, shallow breathing, it turns out, puts strain on your neck and shoulders. Who knew? So, I'm to do deep, slow belly breathing. Funnily enough I was doing this during the first lockdown to ease anxiety and I do rather think it helped. Also he taught me two self-help techniques to ease the muscles in my neck and at the base of my skull, where the worst of the tension is.

I also bought a vibrating octopus head thingummy. It's like a whisk that you put on your head and it vibrates. It feels nice and after ten minutes I felt my jaw loosen up.

This is good.

Another thing Ash said is to train myself to slow down when I don't need to be rushing. So, be calm and composed and slow. Do one thing at a time. eat slowly. Chew the food. Don't rush to get up. Walk around the house with composure. Show the body that all's well. There's no panic. Nothing to fear. The world is safe.

Apart from the pandemic.
