OK, the duck was not the very best part of my day out with Leanne in the Peak District, but he was special. He seemed to be following us, on the wing, on the water and on foot. Some people came up behind us and asked if we were out walking our duck. I wanted to take him home. Finally he flew to a pool where there were a pair, a male and a female. They flew off and he stood there, neck long, quacking. It was so sad. Leanne said, "His wife's run off with another drake." That's how it seemed. He was trying to persuade her to come back to him, but she wouldn't listen to a single quack.
We parked at Longshaw Estate, then walked through Padley Gorge and along one of the edges (Millstone), up which people were climbing, and then had a meal at a pub (small servings, but tasty) before driving home.
Good slides. You looked like you were inside the first tree! The duck was very handsome - yes maybe he was lonely. The link for rock climbers was a hoot - all their own special lingo.
