Today - which is a few days ago... if you see what I mean... I did a victory lap around the open plan office at work. Squirrel. 3,500 words. And it MIGHT even be an argument. I have to deliver it on Wednesday....
So this is good news.
But you know what it means? I have to turn my attention back to human enhancement which is due 5th January. I have a lot of work between now and then. I mean actual work, for which I get paid.
Ben told me to consider what different writers say about human nature. My case is basically this: what does the word 'human' do in the term human enhancement? It brings with it a lot of baggage that has these possible normative interpretations, so people get distracted by different conceptions of what it is to be human. If it's meant to be normative, then what definition does it suggest? If it's not, then it just seems to cloud the issue. There is no such thing as human enhancement because no one can agree on what's meant by human.
Well, that kind of made sense when we were talking about it.
So I keep on and on going through my hundreds of papers looking at aspects that are even vaguely related to this. Needles. Haystacks. Big ball of thread. Where's the end?
Oh yes - go that way. Follow the path from a to b and through to z.
