Starling stars

Writer's picture: CroneCrone

Oh you have to love the iridescence! Did someone say that starlings were the poor man's parrots? That might have been for their mimicry.

It would be nice if they didn't hate me quite so much. They scream and fly off when I look at them eating.

Last night I went to the theatre and saw a strange but fascinating show. Actually, I went to Sadler's Wells and was expected to see a ballet, but there actually wasn't any dancing. It was a Japanese-language adaptation of The Brothers Karamazov set in Nagasaki just before the bomb fell. They had text above the stage to follow the dialogue. The use of space and certain props and movement-ideas was innovative. I hadn't seen anything like it before! And it was funny... until the bomb. That was enacted by this incredible slow-motion falling as a transparent veil was carried over the cast... really clever and effective.

Prior to this, we'd eaten at a brilliant vegan Caribbean restaurant! Great food!

I finally got home at about one or one thirty - I'd left at 7am. And then started writing this paper on Orcas... two hours later, I went to bed. Today started very, very late...
