The light and the dark

Good news that the Blackbird Child is still around.

At one point, the two parents were eating at the feeders on either side of me. The Child saw his mother and flew over calling. She fled - to care for the next brood. I felt sorry for the Child... who had to eat on his own.

My garden is once again a starling nursery.

In the woods, the trees told me that humans don't appreciate how big love is.

Sometimes I feel I appreciate how big pain is. The dead fox cub on the A508. And this... a Starling Child who had been hanging around in my lilac when all the others had gone. I realised he was ill.
When I got home...

The cat had taken his head.
There can be so much pain. So much darkness.
But, look here, willow pollen stars...

And the lilac time...

Good to see Blackbird Child and the multitude of starlings. You see so much - including the sick starling who dies. Photos with both light and dark. And it's lilac time again. And can I learn "to appreciate how big love is."
