These walks just keep me on the right side of my inner borderline. But you know, both sides of the borderline are existing parts of the one me... it's not an or it's an and.

I have been thinking about how we divide things up.

atman/brahman

matter/mind

res extensa/ res cogitans

body/soul

illusory form/consciousness

earthly world/ ideal forms

earth/ heaven

instinct/reason

What is here, now, never seems to be enough to us humans. We need more. More perfection. More purity. More reason. Why can't we ever value what is actually here? The earth beneath our feet? Why do we need something to be eternal or infinite? Why do we expect love when we have the miracle of life?

Why can't we live the life we have to the best of our ability and in the best relationship possible with all the other persons, only some of whom are human?

You ask good questions. And that squirrel -- hmmm, maybe she has fleas? I'm half serious.

I hope she was playing! I've seen one do this in the park. Then I thought it might be a neurological condition like the little baby one I found.
