In the park, the branches, all leafless now, expose the clumps of mistletoe that have populated the trees. Funny that a parasite - for that's what it is - is a love symbol. Why kiss under that? To suggest you'll stick on like a leech for good and all?

Anyway. The fields are getting muddy. Runs are a slip and a slide. The dog has to be towelled at the door. My leggings sprinkle globules over the floor.

Today I received an envelope from Oxford. It was one of those 'Do Not Bend' ones. I was rather excited as I thought it was a certificate confirming my matriculation or something. I'd forgotten that I'd ordered a print out from the Bodleian Library. This is very cool. Journal papers and many many books I can access online thanks to the university's Single Sign On System. It's like almost the whole world is at my fingertips. And those books which aren't available electronically you can request to be printed out - well, a chapter of them or a specific page range - and sent to your home for the princely fee of two British pounds.

So this was another thing to read for my absurd human enhancement essay. I've read, I think, about 60 papers. Maybe more. And a few books. I only need to write 3,500 words. I just don't know which words I need to write.

I have this idea about viewing the debate through the lens of awe and wonder - which I think has legs. It's not very analytical philosophy though. I think I am an outlier and a freak.

The course people have posted something about how to write a dissertation (rather than the short essays). Actually, that's not relevant now as I'm a long way from that. But, you know what? I don't even want to look because I'm sure it'll drive home how absolutely bat-shit crazy my ideas are.

Then I think, 'Fuck it. I'll stick to them like a goddam leech.'
