Unforgettable

On this day out - a long walk - I was somewhat less of a ghost but what I experienced was no less remarkable.
I went off the path to look at an oak who is not doing well and saw in the mown hay meadow a fox. Apparently, they like the mown grass as it's easier for them to find mice. This fox seemed to be just standing there. He had a bit of a run at a pheasant, but then stood still in the field until it started raining and he ran for cover.
After that, I popped across to see Aulus, who looks really well (much healthier than Kairos or the Morrigan) and then went off the beaten track to visit the Oak King and Ash Queen.
As I was walking through the woods, I thought that I saw a deer, then I thought it was a log. I had to get my camera on it to zoom in. Even then, I thought it was a llama! But it was a roe buck. Deep chestnut and full grown. I was watching him as he lay there, facing me, but seemingly unaware. Even when he registered me, he did not flee - he kept returning, as though to ascertain what I was... as though he could almost trust me.
On the way back, through the same woods, I saw two does in the same place and he was further along towards the track.
The Oak King was looking marvelous. Further on, after checking two setts and falling over in the stinging nettles, I visited another oak. By that tree, I saw a hare. The hare ran then came back to rest again near me where I was hidden in the trees. I did not realise until I flushed it out again... unless there were two hares close together...
The Ash Queen has lost the old and detached part of her trunk, but what remains looks healthy. That tree must have been huge.
As I returned to the Oak King, I saw a clod of mud or log or boulder on the edge of the field as the hail came down and I thought, that's a hare. It was - it bounded up and away.

Wonderful 🤎
