Watched

These days, I see the crows watching me when I am driving home, whether from the north or the south. They recognise Mimir the Audi. The Driveways, I'm sure it's them, watch me park and expect me to get out of the car and feed them.

Usually I oblige.

I am also seeing them around the garden - not in the garden, but watching the garden from rooftops and trees around me. Sometimes, I think they are after nestlings or eggs. Other times, I think they are trying to get my attention.

As for the other corvids, the jay is still visiting regularly for peanuts but I don't see the magpies often.

On the jays, I have this feeling that they are the most dinosaur-like of birds... except for starlings. And in Otherlands, I read about a dinosaur whose feathers were specifically described as "jay-like". Can't recall which dinosaur. It's something to do with their confident carriage, I think, and the eyes... intelligent and scheming. Yes. That is it, the scheming look. Blackbirds and robins, tits and dunnocks don't have that scheming look about them. Even the crows and magpies don't have it.

Incredibly enough, it seems that blue jays, rather than European jays, are evolving back toward the dinosaur model! Yes! Really! Check this out!!! Except that the news I found was, er, an April Fool's Day prank. Shame. Thought I was a genius for a few minutes.

Oh yes, I expect that the park crows know your car and watch you at home. I like that they keep their eyes on you. Love the slide show which shows the beauty of crows. Some great shots of wings in motion.

But I have no comment on the blue jay "information". 🤔 Ha Ha
