A conversation with the Wayfarer Oak
I hold the peace around me. Over time and in place a body can weave an aura. It takes time- but you recognise it. And that is why there is the sense of change when you walk under the canopy of a tree.
Meet another person under a tree like me, and the communication has the serenity and connection and grace that I yearn for.
You yearn?
It's not so much a feeling as a way of being. This reaching out of myself into other. I don't seek to criticise. Or dominate or fuse, I seek to bridge divides perhaps- yes, that.
Break down walls?
More bridge divides, where the bridge between you and I is us.
The bridge between you and I is us.
What is the between?
That is a good question. I think there is nothing, but what it is is the failure to notice that beyond the I there is a you, or an US. It is a failure to acknowledge what is already always there, though perhaps unappreciated. And… not unused… but unexplored, maybe, and even resisted.
Seeing the beyond is about the reaching- and about tolerance and curioosity faced with difference, and about enthusiasm and vitality, and about generosity, and about being able, willing, even eager, to accept what is offered.
Ah, yes, he said it, she said it. Fearless receptivity. That is the most crucial aspect of living. And you know that it generates the peace that you experience.
How?
Because when we allowed the world to be in conversation with us, give and take, harm and help., without resisting, we are living with the world and in it and through it and for it- not against it. And that is the secret to everything.
On the way back to the car, the rosebay willowherb grabbed my attention.

Very helpful words. Thank you. That close-up of the willow herb is beautiful ... and expressive.
