What's going on here?

So this was odd. I laid out food for the Divines and all of a sudden a whole host of extra crows flew in.

Bear in mind that Divo and Diva chase their kids away (a bit) and usually go in raucous chases if any extra crows - like the one that seems to drive everyone crazy by flying around and taking peanuts - show up.

Here, though, it was all pretty peaceful.

The other crows - the Unbrave Three and the Flyings - didn't seem completely happy to see these strangers, yet Divo, Diva and the kids just ate with them.

I laid out extra food, but all the crows stayed together and the gulls got it.

Could they be family?

The next day, the Divines were the usual five.

A temporary anomaly? I guess I'll find out.

A week or so later...

OOOPPPPSSSS... this text which you have already read out of context was meant to go here...

WAIT!!! ALERT!!!! After I wrote this - and on the very day of the Full Moon, the large gathering assembled again but all took exception to one, just one, crow and launched an attack. They got it to the ground a few times and I ran over so they'd disperse and it seemed to have got away. I don't know who it was or what stimulated the mob attack or whether I should have intervened. Thing is I am already intervening by leaving food so therefore I feel I have to re-intervene to try to address issues arising from my ur-intervention.

I have a suspicion that it was the crow I highlighted in that second video.

I also have a suspicion that the Divines are from the Feisties of last year and the mob is the rest of the Feisties. There was a Scruffy Feisty and I think that was Divo or Diva who were both scruffy before the moult.

The crow that teases them all seems to be a completely separate crow.

For I while I thought it was Four (it like Four has brown underwings)... it could have been Four and when another crow attacked Four the Unbrave parents might have launched in on that one leading to a melee? I don't know.

A few days later, though, peace again in the large gathering - though the Divines were all in their trees - with a separate amount of food underneath..

I wonder when they (the crows) start nesting? You have your spring-time Sherlock-Holmes sleuthing work cut out for you. 😃 !
