Amazing trees....

What's even more amazing is that the course was FUNDED by the Forestry Commission (I applied for a grant) and I got offered some paid work which I hope that I can do - coppicing!! But with a chainsaw...

Anyway, the course was "Basic Tree Survey" - so that one can spot a tree that may pose a risk to health and safety and advise on what to do about it. It was run by the company that organised my chainsaw course, with the same instructor - and it was he who offered me this work.

In the afternoon, we went to Stowe - landscaped gardens (designed by Capability Brown and managed by the National Trust). It's where T. H. White, author of the Arthurian books - Once and Future King - wrote The Goshawk.

Grecian Temple and the views across Grecian Valley.

Afterwards, Dane took us to see an INCREDIBLE old oak.

What an absolute beauty! Dane reckons it could be 1000 years old!

There is nothing to match trees.

Amazing ancient tree! Good photos ... So you might get paid for some coppicing. That's cool. Where would that be?

That's still neat that you are keeping up with your chainsaw skills even if you missed out on the paid thing. I expect other things will come up.
