CD decked out for the cold

With snow on the ground, it feels more virtuous giving the protein and fat rich peanuts to the crows - plus the suet pellets, cat food and dog treats.

It was pretty bitter and the crows did seem hungry.

CD ate with his family but when I walked around to check up on the rest, he flew over, skimming the back of the dog and landing next to him. The dog didn't notice and, in following his nose, was heading toward the crow, who hopped off, accelerating with a few wing flaps until the dog changed direction and trotted somewhere else. At which point the crow raced after him - running in that adorable manner.

The dog stopped. The crow screeched to a halt. The dog started to pee, his tail held out behind him.

The crow spied the tail and was about to take aim at it when the dog stood up and the crow flattened away from him.

The dog trotted off and the crow hopped over to inspect the pee. I think he tasted it. Which was weird. Especially as he went back for seconds.

CD seemed to be bored of the dog and came to me instead. He tried entertaining me by picking up a small stick a few times and chucking it about. He turned over a few leaves - which seems to mean, 'Um, aren't you meant to be hiding treats under these?' So I gave him a dog treat or two to bury.

When I left, he hesitated then flew back to his family.

The Driveways were waiting for their second helping. There are four of them now. They like me to go away before they land but will chase me along the park wall if I fail to deliver. I moved away so they could eat and then heard them start unstructured cawing. All four flew up into the trees - another crow was on their patch.

CD of course.

I think he gets jealous.
