Cold and frosty morning

The light is so beautiful on days like this. And the contrast between the still-russet oak (this was late November) and the blue tints of the grass.

I can hardly recall frost last year. I think there was a really cold spell when I was in Qatar, but I didn't see that many of these sparkling days.

The cold changes the dynamics in the garden.

Neighbouring robins want access to the food and so Bobbit is on constant sentry duty.

Singing has to be done in flitting fits and starts as he monitors the boundaries and checks the peripheries... and chases off the rivals.

I leave more suet and monkey nuts in the afternoon. As well as fox food.

I'm keeping the rats fat, at any rate.

Beautiful oak photo! Very interesting video with Bobbit guarding his territory. He'll be burning lots of calories flitting around. I saw the cat in first vid. I wonder what the cat thinks of the rats?

The cat left a dead one last year.
