Hermit out of hole

Yep, I ventured away from my county for a day. A trip to London to see Under the Shadow at the Almeida.
I don't think I have ever left the Almeida disappointed and to be able to see such amazing drama for £10 is beyond brilliant.
The play was about the Iran-Iraq war and considered patriotism, fundamentalism, home, fear, irrationality, female solidarity, motherhood, trauma... and it crossed genres into comedy, horror, fantasy... The acting was superb. I thought the lead seemed familiar, and, yes, I had just watched her in a TV drama.
The Almeida does those cakes that I love - ones made with almond flour. I dropped my veganism to have a piece and during the interval I had pomegranate and rose petal sorbet!
On the way to the theatre, I walked past a church which looked welcoming and had some impressive wall paintings. As I went inside, a woman started playing a guitar and singing. She was practicing... I stayed until she had finished.
Outside the church was a peaceful garden. I didn't know what the copper-leaved tree was - turns out, it is a sort of plum... which reminded me of the scent that male hermit beetles emit to attract females...

Glad you enjoyed the theatre. Thanks for the church video and sharing the ambience.
