It's all Greek to me

It turns out that the rather marvelous Open University has a free course in learning Ancient Greek! So, I have been spending downtime at work practicing the alphabet, small letters and capitals. Learning the order and the names of the letters, how to recognise them and how to write them.
At the moment, people at work are very focused on the evils of Manchester City, a football club that has, through creative accounting, gamed the system over many years to get excellent players. During this time, they have won titles and acclaim. Now, they are the pariahs. Inflating the transfer market, fraudulently performing beyond what would otherwise, presumably, have been the case and so on. There will be law suits going on for years and who knows what other ramifications.
There is much anger and disgust about this. Lines have been drawn.
I look at it and acknowledge that it is bad, but, I mean, war in Ukraine and the Middle East. Famine. Ecosystem devastation. Global warming. Really, who cares?
In addition, the copybooks of many football clubs are far from clean. Not the sums involved, but actually some far more egregious acts which may not have been illegal but were devastating to real people. The leagues and federations are not pure either. When anything becomes big business you get this kind of shit. And, in the scheme of things, well, fuck it.
I could not take seriously all the moral outrage and as my face tends to be unguarded even when I try to guard it, I looked down at my paper. Alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon...
