At the very top, the wire had escaped.

But just beneath, the tree had a good grasp on her prey.

Lower down, it looked as though she could lose the battle to keep hold.

Yet the matter was settled with the bottom strand.

We were on a tree survey walk around Pitsford, checking for trees that could drop branches or fall on the path. No hares, otters or kingfishers - but we did see a glorious barn own as well as the usual muntjacs.
While we had a rest at one of the hides, a robin serenades us and Kev said, "You forget how lovely their voices are." I replied that I believe them to be the best. Another sang from the dying poplar copse as I ran past today.
I took the three others to see the Saviour Oak and the Uncanny Oak. I was delighted that one of my companions understood what I was wittering on about and could sense the joviality of the Saviour Oak. She also had a message from the Uncanny Oak. A message that seemed to offer her just what she needed.
Ah! A carnivorous hawthorn! Love the sequence of photos. Given enough time, I'm sure the hawthorn will digest all the wire 😉 Thanks for sharing your outing and the oaks. I'm going for a walk right now and will say hello to a young oak in the park that is on my way. I am tickled that the Saviour Oak is graced with joviality x
