Not a brave badger

Writer's picture: CroneCrone

The young badger wanted the bread roll, but didn't have the courage to grab it.

I have done a little more sett exploration for the Badger Trust and reported RTAs, but I hardly ever see them alive. Twice this year - which probably doubles my lifetime badger sightings total.

A great thing happened yesterday - it turns out that one of the people who comes to the Reserve to survey insects (bees, butterflies, moths and dragonflies) is an app developer who had made apps about all these and birds. She also has a line in classical music and poetry apps. They look amazing - probably the most beautiful apps I have seen. So, I will download them.

But I told her that I'd like an app that has the sights, sounds, signs, tracks and scats of Britain's mammals! I am always crawling around thinking, who has been here?

Today, I explored an old bridge that is no longer accessible to people. Half of it has slipped down the bank and it almost submerged in the river it crosses. But the animals use it! I saw muntjac tracks sliding down the bank and on the bridge.

I wanted to see if badgers used it, but I couldn't see any signs. And if they did, they couldn't possibly be as cute as this.
