Scented

For weeks now, the Mexican orange blossom has been in flower and it smells wonderful. Then, towards the end of April, I started to be able to pick up the aroma of the lilies-of-the-valley and then the lilac.

It's funny that in the photo with colour, I almost imagine the scent - I kind of remembering synaesthesia. But the black and white picture looks abstract and doesn't arose in me the same experience.

In Raw Haw Wood, we were looking at an old apple tree and I could smell something... I thought it was the trunk or last year's apples on the ground. A lovely sweet scent... of course, it was the blossoms.

What was incredible was that the trunk was entirely hollow and yet the tree lived, blossomed and no doubt fruits.

Yes, it's the same for me about the sensing the scent of lilac in colour vs B & W! And I look forward to the whole neighborhood having the scent of lilacs when they finally come out here. I love the delicate smell of apple blossoms (as do bees). I've known old apple trees like that, hollowed out but still very much alive.
