Ickworth House. A National Trust property in Suffolk. The parkland features many old trees. The oldest, apparently, is the Tea Party Oak, which is thought to be about 800 years old.
There were so many... I was sad to see some fallen and standing dead giants...
...and few young trees though... I still have this fear that in a few hundred years time there will be no old trees around. Maybe even in 100 or even 50 years. And they are so beautiful.
That one with the huge burr! It had only recently lost a vast part of its stem.
Here's another beauty.
And how about these roots??
I saw some interesting big birds... geese?
I was looking at two things, colour and texture and portals through trees. I made a slideshow of my photographs.
I love some of these images. I think the colour/texture ones especially as the portals are hard to manage with light.
It's a non-native but going by the eye patch perhaps this is the goose - https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/egyptian-goose
I'm glad you've posted photos of these ancient trees so we can see them at different scales and stages -- patterns, shapes and sizes.
