The Motive and the Cue. The review i have linked to is from the National Theatre run - it moved to the Noel Coward in December and I think they altered some of the things criticised in that original review. A friend recommended it and I paid £10 for the seat. Restricted view. It was worth seeing and moving in parts. One of the things that really strikes me - and this is sad, and it's not the first time this has struck me - is the actors' bow at the end. I feel these REAL people and an audience of REAL people who have been bound up in an UNREAL reality for a few hours suddenly seeing each other. There is this strange recognition. And the recognition is bound up in the creation of the drama and also in its dissolution. Makes me cry.
I had lunch at the vegan restaurant Mildred's, which was great, and walked back to Euston after the play, passing Bedford Square where the plane trees called me.
A Titan reaching up to the sky...
And flowing into the earth.
The bark of these trees is glorious. It's part of how they survive London's traffic fumes.
Glad you had an outing to the theatre. Impressed I am by the plane trees. Especially like the pic of the "flowing" roots!!!
