Life's tough in Crone-world.
I've taken on this project that, if we indeed have souls, literally would destroy them. It's checking AI and the reason I say this is not that AI is evil (though it will take most of our jobs, to the benefit of the already rich and powerful), but because witnessing the "imagination" of AI is troubling.
AI can make beautiful, in a chocolate-box way; it excels at "cute"; it can get something like funny, though superficially; and it can edge toward badass, with vestiges of cute; it can do a kind of pseudo-magical, manga fairies and pastel unicorns. What it cannot do is rouse the deep emotions related to awe and wonder. Grandeur is beyond it, and the sacred. The profound experiences can only be, I think, roused by living IN the world.
Anyway, it's been kind of interesting, but also just hours and hours of screen.
I took a break to see my Dad, and as i was leaving, this was on the aerial of his car.

Dragonflies were the subject of a recent talk I hosted, and a reminder of the depth of real, lived experience.
The dragonfly is beautiful. What you are discovering about A.I. is very unsettling. Scary actually. Important words: "The profound experiences can only be, I think, roused by living IN the world."
