At home in the ruins

A somewhat disturbing find at the ruined church. Someone had positioned stones fallen from the wall to make a kind of enclosed altar for these artifacts.

I don't think those are human teeth.

For a change, I took a few pictures of the church.

In the first two pictures, you see the Sequoia behind the ruins. The sun had gone in by the time I took the third picture. There are snowdrops in the foreground.

I like the way that the vegetal world is colonising the ruins.

I don't know what sort of trees have been planted - the other evergreens. Even so, I took a load of pictures of their bark. Here are a few.

I saw four people while I was there. I was listening to the birds and suddenly they stopped. Two people had arrived. It took a long time for them to start up again, and then two more people showed up. What surprised me was that the birds had not been put off by me, or not so much. Do I move differently? Do they recognise me from previous visits?
