Crone in a throne

Writer: CroneCrone

Day 2 at Sulehay. Wow. It is a magical place.

This is mainly a photographic record as pictures tell... oh, darn what is that saying about 1000 words?? Anyway.

I love it that there are many standing, fallen and hanging dead trees here.

That Norwegian Anne, whose book I'm listening to, stresses the importance of dead wood. There are more living cells in a dead tree than a live one! She also says that there is far greater invertebrate diversity in places where dead wood is left. I think it was almost twice as much.

I love how wood decomposes. These images are like abstract art!

I love the variety of mosses - and I have signed up for a moss course.

I love the absolute beauty of fungi.

I love it that there's a shower block for WWII refugees in this Ancient Woodland.

And an avenue of small leaved limes.

I love the resilience of trees.

I love the huge beech standing on her own.

And, of course, the long-ago coppiced oaks that make suitable thrones for a treehugging Crone.

That's a wonderful, cheer-inspiring photo of you in the oak throne! 😍🤗 Yes, I agree - so much life and beauty in dying or fallen trees. And mosses everywhere! Is the moss course in-person or on-line?
