The other day, Divo and Diva introduced me to their juveniles!
Actually, the juveniles were afraid of me and kept flying back to their nest. One of them did some circling round and round the tree. His parents watched somewhat nervously.
But when the babies worked out their parents were eating they flew down to beg and one of the parents fed them. The begging was so sweet - little baby caws and flapping wings, beak open!
I had thought that because Divo and Diva are a little accustomed to me, their young would be, but apparently each generation has to learn for itself that the Crone is not a threat. Trust seems to be a personal matter. An issue of what one experiences not just what one sees.
This gives me hope that there will be other newcomers in the park.
They next day, one of the babies accompanied the parents to the stash and started to peck things up for himself, after watching his parents. When Diva flew off to cache some treats, the baby followed and looked as if he was trying to copy her!
However, it must be noted that the Divine family were all over the Fluffies' turf again and there was no sign of the Fluffies. Nor were they there the following day.
Aside from the Divines and the Driveways, I also saw Three, and the next day Three and Droopy were present. Droopy is still lame.
The Playgrounds were in their patch and I threw out peanuts. Droopy and Three took exception to them eating at one stage and chased them off. All four Crows then cawed at each other from a row of trees. Perhaps a sign of how twitchy everyone is with the young about... If there are more young.
Oh, and what about names for the Divine kids? Maybe I should wait to see if they hang around.
I'm happy to hear about the kids!!
