Hawk walk

Back to the full distance. Oh yes. Off I went, stagger, plod, shuffle. Goodness. These distances used to take me 45 minutes - and back then I ran slower than most people walk. Now it takes about an hour. I might as well walk. But, I trotter.
And it seemed I saw raptors everywhere! Red kites, buzzards and kestrels definitely and possibly a sparrowhawk. A kestrel, strictly speaking, is a falcon rather than a hawk, but nevermind.
Still no goshawk sighting and I did not see the ospreys who nest near here. Though maybe they have gone already? Yes, I have just checked. The females leave first, then the males and finally the juveniles - and it seems likely they will all have departed by mid-September.
The red kites seem the easiest to see.... as though they mind humans less than the others.

There were a pair quartering the fields here.
As I ran, I was trying to remember something that I desperately wanted to write about. I recalled thinking the previous night how I would discuss it on the blog. Sadly, that excited thought seems to have migrated away.
It struck me as I sat down today that maybe it had been related to this piece on Psyche - about life not as problems to be solved but as something to be lived. I like this. I think it's helpful.
