Cycles and tangles

A trip to visit trees. It was very quiet. I did see a hare and an adult muntjac. Many squirrels. And a raptor - it looked like a kestrel but was in a place where I would have expected a sparrowhawk.

The fungi are out and that made me think about decay and decomposition, the cycles of life, and death.

The death theme enhanced by a singe bone.

A pair of trees I had previously reported due to their bleeds, have many more bleeds, though right now they are not bleeding and the ruptured bark seems to be healing. I could not see the D-shaped holes which mean that the bark beetle associated with acute oak decline is definitely present. And their canopies looked good. I wondered if they had successfully resisted. Or if not all the bacteria were there (and the bleeds would not be fatal.

On a happier front, I was again wowed by the oak and ash who share a canopy.
