Now, you may well be thinking, "Is that a 'before' image?" NO, it's not. That is post-dramatic and labour-intensive cutting. I swear that there is 70% more light in the conservatory! The shade was good in the heat of the summer, but as winter comes, it feels like I live in a hobbit hole.


Again, it may not look like the hedge of some Tudor manor house, but, believe me, it's worlds better than it was.



I left the ivy at the end as it's covered in flowers and I was removing so many of the other (little purple) flowers from the voracious climbing back-of-the-garden behemoth that I wanted to leave something for the pollen-eaters.
