Mystery eggshell

A broken pigeon's egg caught in the ivy of the back lilac. Someone must have carried it or dropped it there.
I found a very small part eggshell by the back door a month or so ago. Might have been a goldfinch or a long-tailed tit, as it was pale. I thought white, but apparently no one lays small white eggs.
I am not seeing any birds. well, wary blue tits, very wary great tits, disappearing pigeons, just the calls of fleeing starlings, and the rustle of a wren in the hedge. Very lonely out there.
In fact, the world feels lonely.
Boxing is good fun. Serious fitness work today, said coach David. He gave me a well done.
What else can I bore you with? I'm writing course material about trees. Who knew they produced so many chemicals? Well, plant specialists, I suppose, but there really are a lot and they all seem to perform many functions. I guess it's like how our hormones do one thing for mood and something really quite different to the liver, say, or the pancreas.
Goodness. I am dull. I will bore you no longer.

What you're saying about tree chemicals reminds me of the Light Eaters book. Good luck with the course.... I'm sorry your back yard is quiet these days. So is mine. Not many birds. Not many bees.
