Nature/culture

There is a real thrill in walking through London's parks. And here's why: these truly are places where nature and culture are inseparable.

From chainsaw carved fallen trees made into images of communion...

...to resident non-humans living their lives to the full in a human-dominated space.

This, by the way, made a lie of that cygnet as ugly duckling idea. It's the greylag babies who were especially ugly. But so feisty! One of these little guys had a go at an adult Canada goose! The parents were kind of "whatever" and showed no concern at all. The Canada geese looked far more mellow and relaxed than those at the Reserve.

I also saw a fat urban squirrel and a scurrying urban fox.

This tree stood out. A willow.

And the nature-culture theme continues, alas, poor Yorick.
