Thistles.

Man's retired, sits

near the mulched bed -- gloved, trowelled

-- cuts, digs and bags prickles, says he's

got time.

Crapsey cinquain by CC

Photo by CC taken 24 June 2021

I wrote this Crapsey cinquain a few years ago after talking with a dedicated volunteer (who was in his 70's). The form has an interesting history which I was taken by when I first came across it (again - several years ago). You can read the story of the form's inventor Adelaide Crapsey here, and links on how to write one.

The photo was taken today and shows our plot (the one to the left of the plot where I'm leaning my bike). I will be sure to post more of the plot's progress as the summer progresses. Today BTW I seeded a second planting of Swiss chard and green beans and some lettuce.

I enjoyed that poem. It has great rhythm and verve.
