And a few days later...
This is the rowan and to the right the top of one of the poplars whose roots I cut. All three maltreated poplars look well, as do the three still in their original pot.
Also, the lilies-of-the-valley survived the fence repairs! I should have as many as usual.
The bad news is that my "lawn" - all ten square feet of it - seems to be primarily bindweed. I have been pulling it out but you just break it and all the bits create new plants so it's a Sisyphean task. It was interesting for Bobbit, although he has very little time these days - it's 6th April. He's flying back and forth with stuff in his beak looking incredibly bedraggled. He shouldn't be this exhausted at the start of the year!
Still, while I was gardening, he visited repeatedly and even treated me to a little subsong. Later, I sat out in the windy garden to edit the videos and he spent that time hopping around my feet, eating suet from the window feeder and whisper singing in the hedge somewhere.
