Park life

Even the park looks attractive under pastel skies with the frost silvering the grass.

It seems a good time to be feeding the birds. I see the pigeons, gulls, starlings and little songbirds finishing off what the crows, in their distraction, leave behind.

Here's Droopy or Three watching out for me to make the 'Breakfast is served!' alert.

There's a little less playfulness or chasing around on cold mornings. Everyone's conserving energy, perhaps. I saw Droopy bob down, fluffing her feathers over her chilly feet.

The frost seems to make Mr Fluffy's limp more noticeable. Though maybe the foot is simply getting worse? Still, I have managed to ensure that he has suet and nuts to feed on every day. He's still nervous, but, as far as I can see, glossy-feathered and bright-eyed.

This chap below, Divo, follows me around. He always has this very upright stance.

I saw him and Diva opening a plastic bag to eat some kind of pastry. They left it after a while - there was still a lot in the bag. Maybe they didn't like it. Or peanuts are simply easier sources of nutrition.

CD, as you see in the cover picture, likes to hang around with the dog. It's to their mutual benefit. The crow seems to feel safe, the dog mops up anything the crow leaves. CD has decided that dog treats are no longer fun. Cat food is all he wants.

The Driveways, on the other hand, seem still delighted with peanuts. They watch out for me on the way into and out of the park. I always see one spotter but as soon as I throw the food, one, two or three more appear as if from nowhere. As if on the wings of telepathy.

This morning, the rising sun turned the trees red.

It's not so clear in the photo, but, believe me, it was as if they had been dipped, tips first, into crimson ink.
