September colour

When I visited my father, he showed me his cyclamens. I can't say I was hugely excited, though it was nice to see that he was happy about them. A few days later, I saw these by a fallen down wall next to an old beech that is one of my Sentinel Trees.

Nice to see some colour at this point in the year... of course, the reds are starting to be out in force - what with the hips and the haws.

I like that second picture where the camera would not focus on the berries, but allowed their colour to pain the bark. The tree in the background is the Wayfarer/Wayfinder Oak.
Talking of wayfinding, I have maps and books about Dartmoor, plus a satellite-connected GPS device for my visit to Devon. I have high hopes that this will enable me to get sensationally lost.... or rather, I will know where I am (precisely) but, wouldn't it be fine it no-one else did? And the buzzards hypnotised me until I became carrion?
Sorry. That's a bit bleak.
Here's a butterfly to improve the mood.

What an ornate butterfly!
